Balderton Lake

In the late 1980's The Parish Council bought the lake and surrounding land to prevent a large, city-based fishing club buying it for private use. The lakeside is surrounded by housing and has been a valued local amenity for many years.

The Grove Angling Club rents the fishing rights from us and helps to take care of the water. If you wish to fish there you must join the club.

We have provided limestone surface walks all round the lake and regularly maintain its wooded areas and grasslands.

The old railway line from Newark to Bottesford is now a cycle/walking track and is managed by the charity Sustrans. This runs along the western border of the lake and gives several miles of  land for pleasant walks in traffic-free countryside.
