Memorial Testing due to commence at Balderton Cemetery, Mount Road
Balderton Parish Council
Balderton Parish Council has a duty to check memorials for their safety at least every five years to ensure the safety of this site for everyone who goes there. Starting this month and due to be completed in February we will do this by a simple hand test to check whether a memorial has become unstable. Our staff will do the test with utmost care and respect for the deceased and their family.
If we find that a memorial is not secure we will either secure it with a stake or lay it down (dependent on how unstable the memorial is). We will put a notice on the memorial and try to contact the owner of the memorial. On occasions, this is not possible if the owner has moved, changed their phone number or passed away themselves.
If you see a notice on a gravestone that you care for, please contact us as we will advise you how to proceed.
